Apex is rich in history!

Apex was incorporated as a town in 1873. It was named Apex because it is the highest point on the Chatham Railroad, running from Richmond, Virginia, to Jacksonville, Florida. Apex Union Depot, which presently houses the Apex Chamber of Commerce, was originally a station for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. Later on, it also served as the Apex Community Library.Source
